Presenting Pictures of the Children of Ukrainian Labor Migrants українською

26.11.2008 11:17
On November 27, 2008, the International Institute of Education and Culture and Ties with Diaspora, jointly with Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s Open Ukraine Foundation, will conduct a presentation of the anthology “Children of Emigrants about Themselves” that contains essays and drawings of emigrants’ children – participants of the International Contest. 156 children of emigrants that live both in Ukraine (mostly in the Western region) and abroad – in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, the Russian Federation – took part in the contest. Emigrants’ children presented works in which they candidly and with great talent described the dramatic consequences of contemporary labor migration.

Young students made valuable contributions to profound literary works with their own pictures in the art-poster contest on migration themes, “A Sincere Ukrainian Heart – to Ukraine and the World”.

After the presentation, a discussion of social, economic, moral and ethical problems caused by “the fourth wave” of Ukrainian migration will be held at a round table on the topic “Modern emigration: problems of social and national orphanage”. Representatives of government bodies, clergy, students, non-governmental organizations, scientists, sociologists, psychologists, demographists, lawyers, pedagogues and the media have been invited to the meeting.

The presentation will take place in the hall of Lviv Regional State Administration (18 Vynnychenko str., room 257).
